Effectiveness of Rice Husk and Sugarcane Bagasse Ashes Blended Cement in Improving Properties of Concrete

This paper emphasized the use of rice husk ash (RHA) and sugarcane bagasse (SBA) in improving concrete properties, also their combined effects on workability, compressive strength, flexural permeability water absorption capacity. Thus, this study, water-to-cement ratio was kept constant (0.45), binder materials content for conventional mix at (350 kg/m3) partial replacement cement with RHASBA used 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% by weight cement. The maximum strength noted a 5% level RHASBA. Results showed that optimum which found to increase 3.4%, lowered 50%, sorptivity 11.34% as compared control 90 days curing time. micro-structural test results further established RHA SBA have high SiO2 enables them be more reactive revealed presence depletes Ca(OH)2 crystals, converting it into CaH2O4Si (C-S-H gel) leading strengthening bond within matrix.
